This journey takes you through the stunning Ait Bougmez Valley, known as the “Happy Valley,” over high mountain passes, and into the wild landscapes of the M’Goun Valley and Gorge. Along the way, you’ll pass through traditional Amazigh (Berber) villages, interact with locals, and marvel at untouched nature. From lush valleys and dramatic gorges to high plateaus where nomads graze their flocks, this trek offers an incredible mix of culture, scenery, and adventure.
Program Details:
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Bougmez Valley (1,800m)
Depart from Marrakech at 8:00 AM, driving through the beautiful Central High Atlas region. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of dramatic landscapes before arriving at Ait Bougmez, the picturesque “Happy Valley.” Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional Berber welcome with mint tea, followed by a leisurely walk through the valley’s fields and villages. Overnight in a guesthouse with a local family.
Drive: 6 hours
Day 2: Ait Bougmez – Ait Imi Pass (2,910m) – Zerkan Valley – Tighremt N’Ait Hamed (2,300m)
Begin your trek with a steady ascent from Ait Imi (2,000m) to the Ait Imi Pass (2,910m). At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Descend into the Ouzighimt Valley, passing several Amazigh villages and lush landscapes. Camp overnight at Tighremt N’Ait Hamed.
Hiking: 6.5 hours | Ascent: 1,100m | Descent: 600m
Day 3: Tighremt N’Ait Hamed – Ouzighimt Valley – Imi N’Irkt
Trek along the Ouzighimt Valley, following the river through a series of charming villages. Watch as local women work in the fields and collect firewood, offering a glimpse into daily life in this remote area. Stop for lunch near Taghraft before continuing to Imi N’Irkt, where you’ll camp for the night.
Hiking: 5.5 hours | Descent: 500m
Day 4: Imi N’Irkt – Tighanimine
Today’s journey takes you across rivers, offering refreshing breaks in the cool water. Stop for tea and lunch near the source of Ifasfas, then continue to the village of Tighanimine, where you’ll set up camp.

Day 5: Tighanimine – Boutaghrar
Trek through fields of crops and orchards filled with fig, walnut, and apple trees. Pass through traditional Amazigh villages before arriving at the Boutaghrar Valley. Enjoy lunch near Tamgalouna village before setting up camp for the night.
Hiking: 5.5 hours | Descent: 400m
Day 6: Boutaghrar – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Depart early in the morning, driving through the famous Valley of Roses, known for its annual Rose Festival in May. Continue through Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Sahara,” before crossing the scenic Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260m) en route to Marrakech. Arrive in the early evening, marking the end of your adventure.
